This hands-on, intermediate/advanced course covers generative and algorithmic lighting design practices using TouchDesigner as the lighting controller. Students will learn how to create optimized networks that can drive their live shows or installation lighting without the need for any lighting consoles or desks. The course will cover the basics of communicating with lighting fixtures, using sensors and textures, creating looks, generalizing pixel maps, creating simple previsualization environments, and taking advantage of generative design concepts that can be applied to real-time lighting.
